Study:
The
Request
How can the Web be used to house mission-critical treatment protocols
and share that data efficiently with affiliates across a large health
network?
The Answer: Cirring
Corporate Xtra-net
Critical information is now available to Network
members via the Web. The password-protected Web site allows
member organizations to distribute treatment protocols,
clinical pathways, and information regarding educational
opportunities for health care professionals. The site
offers multiple levels of security, insuring that while
all Network members have access to the data, only those
with the appropriate privileges and passwords can edit
or add content.
The site integrates an on-line calendar
listing continuing educational programs available from
member hospitals. Users search for programs by subject,
key word, and sponsoring hospitals. The calendar content
is edited through user-friendly forms that are submitted
via any browser.
The Bottom Line
Through the website, RWJHN automates a significant
portion of the distribution of data throughout their network
of health care organizations. The site has created a virtual
community, improving the sense of connectedness between
its members, as well as conveying to the public the vast
network of health care professionals that are part of
RWJHN.
